Frequently
Asked Questions

We are currently in the process of moving to cardboard packaging. Today most of our packs are made from plastic (OPP) which is considered yellow light for sustainable packaging but soon you will see some kickin’ boxes on the shelves.

We are working to have all our packaging fully recyclable. Our plastic bags are monomaterial and can be recycled in countries with the PET plastic scheme. Our cardboard boxes are 100% recyclable and please consult local recycling guidelines on how to best recycle the packaging.

All our products are developed to be cooked, therefore we don’t recommend to eat them raw. They also taste better when cooked!

Nope! You can cook Oumph! frozen or defrosted.

Please check the back of the packaging or the specific product’s page on our website for the most accurate storing and cooking instructions.

Today we use soy, wheat and pea protein as the main ingredients for our products but we are always looking into new cool plant-proteins to turn into rockstars in our products.

It depends on the product, of course. We have developed a range of products that include unseasoned ones as well as ready seasoned ones, inspired by the big flavours of the world. Always with a bangin’ texture.

Absolutely! It doesn’t contain any animal ingredients. Which means it’s fabulous food for vegans, and everyone else too.

Many people like the taste and feel of meat. It gives a feeling of eating food that you’re used to. To switch meat for something that gets the job done in the same way makes change easier. Both for us as individuals and for the food industry as a whole.

Oumph! is made from soya protein that isn’t genetically modified. Despite that, there can be traces of GM-soya protein. Our supplier guarantees that the product, according to EU regulations, doesn’t contain genetically modified ingredients. This means that the percentage of GM-soya protein doesn’t exceed 0.9%. Since we’re nerdy like that we’ve taken a special interest in reducing GMO in Oumph! as much as possible. The first analysis we did came back at 0.2% GMO.

Our favorite diet is the eat-all-the-good-foods-diet. And soy protein is straight up a pretty rad ingredient. From a nutritional standpoint it’s almost unbeatable, containing a lot of protein, fibre, folic acid and other vitamins and minerals. Since our soy doesn’t contribute to the deforestation of the rainforest, the only bad thing we can think of is that some people are unfortunate enough to be allergic. Booo.

None of our products contain palm oil.

Most of the soya used to make Oumph! is grown in Europe, in the Danube region to be precise. We sometimes buy soya from North America, always not genetically modified . We don’t buy any soya from South America, in order to ensure that we don’t contribute to the deforestation of the rain forest. We are an active partner in Svenska Sojadialogen, a voluntary initiative set up in Sweden that works towards a more responsible production of soya. As part of this initiative, we have also committed to purchasing RTRS-credits (RTRS=Roundtable Responsible Soy) for all of our soya based products, and thus contributing to more sustainable soya production in South America, even though we are not using it ourselves in our products.

All pea protein in our products is sourced from Europe.

All wheat protein in our products is sourced from Europe.

Our Oumph! B*con Bits and Oumph! pizzas contain gluten and wheat, all our other products do not contain gluten.

Not at the moment. We have done tests using organic soy but have not been able to get the right texture in the right quantities so far.

Please check the where to find page. If you cant find us on shelf, ask someone in store.

A word used to describe that “extra something” that makes certain things special. That something that just can’t be put into words. When it comes to people, it’s in their attitude. When it comes to experiences, it’s a feeling. And when it comes to food, Oumph! is that “je ne sais quoi” that makes it irresistible. This is also the expression our co-founder Anders “The Duck” Lindén used during his many years working as an international chef when he wanted dishes to get more punch.

The majority of Oumph!’s products are produced in Stora Levene, Sweden.

No. But there are some rumors surrounding this. Soy contains phytoestrogen (isoflavones), also known as plant estrogen. Isoflavones are not human estrogen. Isoflavones are similar in chemical structure to human estrogen, but they bind to the body’s estrogen receptors differently and function differently.1,2 Research has not found any adverse effects on reproductive hormones, such as estrogen or testosterone, of those who consume soy or isoflavones derived from soy.2,3 References: 1.
